The White Elephant

For the past couple of months I have been trying to determine what would be a great white elephant gift. Of course, I needed to add my own personal twist.

So, what was created, or more or less conceived, was to create a collection of B to D List (depending on your viewpoint or opinion) celebrity “autographs”.

Of course it would be impossible to round up real signatures so Brittany and I improvised with our own John Hancocks.

I also had to put my own design twist by creating an accompanying card.

This weekend Brittany and I have been busy crafting delectible Christmas treats, Christmas salutations (card things), and this morn we broke personal bests in the Jingle All the Way 10K (although we did get beat by several Gingerbread People, a couple of Santas, and probably children half our age … We did not get beat by the Poodle/Reindeer though).

A Wintry Mix at the National Tree

It’s another Sunday morning spent watching Meet the Press after an earlier morning run at the Bramlett household. It’s also a very cold, very windy morning in DC. It’s not even winter yet…

Will and I braved the cold (and snow flurries!) last night to head down to see the national tree. It was date #2 in our 12 dates of Christmas. We first walked down to the White House and took some pics of the inauguration parade preparations and then took the long (unintentional) way around the White House to see the tree.  We didn’t do this last year–and I didn’t know that there were lots of other little trees, each representing the states and territories of the United States.

I think we were a little disappointed with the national tree. Essentially, they drape a big net of lights over the top of the tree, making it look…well strange. The feathery branches are held down by the net. The little trees were cool…each with ornaments provided by constituents from its own state/territory.

With cheeks chapped and noses running, we stopped in at Teaism for some drinks and a salty oat cookie on our way back home. It was a good date and really, the perfect activity for snow flurries.

Here are some pics…
