Good ol’ rocky top

Hi it’s me. Remember,”her”…

I am sad that I can’t blog as often as I would like. As you can imagine, school work and obligations have increased throughout the semester. This week marks the halfway point. Hooray! That’s always a nice feeling…but it also means I have a lot of writing to do in the next few weeks. Writing isn’t so bad–I actually really enjoy that part of grad school. It’s keeping up with the reading in addition to churning out papers that is difficult.

So that’s all I’m going to say about school. You don’t want to hear about it I’m sure.

After two abnormal weekends, (one with Will in Georgia and another with us both in Chattanooga) we were both looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Ha. Somehow it’s become a very busy (but fun) weekend.

Although exhausting, last weekend was a blast. We traveled to Chattanooga for Will’s cousin’s wedding to a great girl, Amanda. Here are some pics of the weekend:

We left at 2am Saturday morning…

Ian and Amanda and Uncle Jimmy (Ian’s Father, Will’s Uncle)

Looking like a true southern frat boy. Southern he is…frat boy he is not.

I’ve never danced so much at a wedding. It was the best way to keep warm outdoors.

There are no pictures of Will because he was the one taking the photos–but the guy can rock a vest.

A Weekend in Photos

This weekend was a homecoming.

My friends Brian and Jenna tied the knot in Griffin, Georgia so I spent the weekend down in The Dirty South.

Rather than write extensively, I will let few pictures do the talking.

Left to Right, Top to Bottom: Ben Trice (Not A Jew), May and Lil’ Hayden Salley, The Homestead in Thomaston, The old basketball goal, Weeds growing on the tennis court (in some places in South Georgia it would just be “weed”), A pair of pears, Standing on the diving board, Drops in the web

Larger iterations can be found, without having to click on images thrice, on my flickr.

A Day at the Zoo

The sabbatical between jobs is finally coming to a close.

Finally.

Don’t get me wrong, I have really enjoyed the general amount of laziness that I have undertook. You could almost say sloth and lethargy have been my occupation the past two weeks.

I have tried to get out of the apartment but honestly, finding the motivation to do that is not really appealing. Things either cost money to do or consume and the free things are wearisome and in some cases, mind-numbing.

Tomorrow I am hopping on a flight to Georgia for our friend’s Brian and Jenna’s wedding. Then, one more day of “freedom” and it will be back to the Rat Race on Tuesday.

Today, due to Yom Kippur, David, who had the day off, and I, whipped up some omlettes, cut a fresh pineapple, and sat outside and enjoyed a late brunch.

Later in the day I trekked back to the National Zoo. After a couple hundred yards within the park, I realized a few things.

First, everyone and their mother was there. When I say that, I mean, there were a couple million children with their moms and then there was me. I felt creepy … and bored with the empty exhibits and hot from the sun. Of course I picked the hottest day of the week to walk out in the sun (a toasty 80 degrees).
