A Year in Photos: The 2011 B-Sides

Posted by on January 20, 2012

This has become one of my favorite annual segments (perhaps our only annual segment, even). It affords me the time to look back at all of the photos I took the past year and amble down memory lane for a little while.

Again, these are photos that were never posted here (and more than likely, anywhere else) so you are truly getting a mixed bag.

For further reference, here are the B-Sides posts from 2011 and 2010.

January, Silver Spring, Maryland – Some days it seems like Nola arrived just yesterday. But, when I look at photos like this it is amazing to see how far she already has come.

February, Washington, DC – It only took a month before Nola was already sick of the camera constantly in her face.

March, Washington, DC – It wouldn't be accurate to say Moses has been largely neglected (maybe slightly). This photo is just for you, buddy.

April, Athens, Georgia – A successful year means a trip to the Grit. Have we ever mentioned that we love this place? Oh, we have?

May, Washington, DC – The Many Faces of a Bramlett: Flustered, Repulsed, Confused, Amused, and Indifferent.

June, Washington, DC — Toothbrush? Toy? Snack? What's going on here?

July, Washington, DC – The pursuit of Moses; the real motivation behind Nola scootin’.

August, Athens, Georgia – A somewhat candid moment between photos.

September, Santa Barbara, California – A very, very rare instance that both of us are in front of the lens. We only had to go to California to capture it.

October, Washington, DC – Dazzled by technology; Nola takes part in another grandparental Skype session.

November, Durham, North Carolina – A tender early morning moment with Nola and Brittany.

December, Lawrenceville, Georgia – Post-Christmas and swinging into the new year.

Nola’s First Classic City Visit

Posted by on January 10, 2012

One thing that we were itching to do while we were down in Georgia was to get up to Athens and show Nola where we first met.

Okay.

That is a bold face lie. We wanted to get up to Athens to go get some succulent, finger-licking vegetarian soul food at the much revered restaurant and old Friday night haunt, The Grit. Being able to stroll along North Campus, around the Chapel, beside the Herty Field Fountain, and through The Arch (uh, yes Brittany did tote Nola through The Arch) was just extra yeast gravy.

Brittany did not succumb to the curse of the Arch as she walked away from Athens with not one but two degrees.

Just off East Broad, Nola could be seen honing her zombie walk.

On the Chapel steps.

Curiosity killed the cat. Good thing Nola is a Dawg.

Brittany assists Nola in tossing a penny into the Herty Field Fountain. It is unknown if Nola's wish has come to fruition yet or if technically, her wish even counts. Heck, who knows what's going on in that noggin.

Nola Jean: Master of the Straw.

GOLDEN BOWL!!! OMG!1!1 LOLZ!!!

To cap off the day, Nola got her first taste of ice cream. She was very pleased.
