Family for the 4th

Posted by on July 4, 2011

This past weekend my parents were in town for the holiday to visit.

Mom and Dad had the opportunity to really see Nola’s personality shine this visit. Granted, Nola is not all coos and sugar plums these days. She certainly has times when she is particularly persnickety and ill-tempered. But, that is who she is; rainbows and cloudy days.

One thing that struck me is how much Nola interacts with people. Even a short month ago, she was a bit wooden. Now, she is quick to offer a smile that would light up a room, giggles when provoked, and is curious to explore with her hands more so than her mouth (including that curious growth sprouting from underneath my Dad’s nose). These are not necessarily new developments but when paired with my parents this weekend, these changes were a bit more striking. It is easier to see these interaction when you are in the audience.

The initial setup.

...And the imitation

Papa Dan kept Nola in stitches all weekend.

Keeping cool while listening to a little Singing Lizard.

Deliberating on what to get for brunch.

"Is that UNSWEETENED tea?"

The obligatory three generations photo.

Whispering sweet nothings.

A nose breaking kiss.

I love the photos of your parents with Nola and then, of course, the posting, “Give peas a chance.”
