UR Doing It Wrong

Posted by on November 11, 2010

About a month ago I had an English language epiphany.

If you are a semi-constant reader or have ever received an e-mail from me that consisted of more than 300 words (they happen … just like this just happened), you will know I frequently make comments as an aside within the parameters of parenthesis. Why I can’t just come out and say what I want to without making a secondary comment is beyond me.

So, consider this an apology and mea culpa for the past three years.

We Like Cake

The DC Bramletts have experienced a long string of busy weekends including traveling for school, running in Baltimore, and home to Georgia for a baby shower and more running.  This past weekend capped off the chaos (we’ll be spending considerably much more time at home with the last weeks of the pregnancy looming) with a visit from my parents coupled with a road trip to Pennsylvania.

My mom turned 50 last week, so as her birthday gift, Will and I decided to fly her, along with my dad, up here for a visit.  We wanted to celebrate with her and give her the opportunity to celebrate with her sisters’ families as well.  Mom and dad arrived on Friday, we relaxed all afternoon, and dad told me about his new intoxicated friend from the B30 metro bus.  The evening was spent at Good Stuff Eatery, an excellent spot for hamburgers, fries, and shakes on Capitol Hill.  This was our (mine and Will’s) second time dining there, and my love for the restaurant was only confirmed.

On Saturday, we headed to Lebanon County, PA to spend the rest of the weekend with my aunts and their families.  My mom turned 50, but my cousin Jill K. (I have two cousins named Jill) also turned 30 this week (actually today!), so we celebrated with both of them.  Aunt Sally and Aunt Fay even had a little cake for Nola since they couldn’t make it to the shower in Georgia.  Much delicious Italian food and 3 cakes were enjoyed by all (including two ice cream variants, the king of cakes–Will).

The weekend wasn’t all birthday fun–Mom shipped up most of the clothing items from the baby shower in Thomaston and we washed, organized, put away the items that we could.  I was glad to have her help as I get overwhelmed easily with this stuff!  Good news: baby clothes are small and don’t take up much space.  The crib, changing table and other big items will come with the Bramletts when they visit for Thanksgiving.  We are ready to put everything together to get a sense of what life will be like in our small basement apartment for the next year and a half or so.

Finally, Mom asked Will to take some updated family pics this weekend.  Here are some of the best:
